Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech

Job Overview

Seeking a Surgical Technologist with proficiency in either Ortho/Neuro or General/Robotics surgical specialties. The position involves working in a busy OR environment with multiple suites and a variety of cases.

Specialty Areas & Experience Requirements

General/Robotics OR

• Must have at least 1 year of experience in General/Robotics OR cases.
• Experience with Open bellies GYN, DaVinci Xi robotic system, Endoscopy, and GI scopes preferred (refresher training acceptable).
• Common cases include pediatrics to geriatrics, cystoscopy, DaVinci XI for General/GYN/Urology, ION robotic cases, open abdominal surgeries, and endoscopy.

Ortho/Neuro OR

• Must have at least 1 year of experience in Ortho/Neuro OR cases.
• Experience with total joints (hips, knees, shoulders, ankles), sports medicine, arthroscopies, neuro-spinal fusions (cervical and lumbar), microdiscectomies, and craniotomies (no awake large neuro cases).
• Average 25-30 cases per day.

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Rotating 8-hour shifts: 06:45-15:15, 09:00-17:30, 15:00-23:30; weekend shift 07:00-19:30.
• Call 1-2 times per week (15:15-06:45).
• Weekend call approximately every 3-4 weekends (Friday 15:15 to Monday 06:45).
• Must be willing to work holidays on a rotating basis with permanent staff.
• Call response time: 15 minutes. Post-call reprieve shifts and sleep room available. Housing nearby should be accessible for call coverage.

Orientation & Training

• 4-5 days of unit/department-specific orientation.
• 2 buddy call shifts included.

Floating & Additional Duties

• Must be willing to float to cross-train in other specialty cases as a second scrub.
• Must be willing to float to the floor as a 1:1 sitter (training provided same day).
• Ability to pick up extra shifts for 1:1 sitting to supplement hours during low case volume.
• Scrub color provided.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• North Dakota Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) certification.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in the chosen specialty area (General/Robotics OR or Ortho/Neuro OR).

Work Environment & Notes

• The department fosters a family atmosphere.
• Charge Nurse coverage on all shifts (7am-11pm weekdays, 7am-7pm weekends).
• Manager available until 4pm weekdays.
• Clinical supervisor manages scheduling.

Additional Information

• Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius and not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated health systems.
• Return to work (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start.
• Supplemental time refusal results in an unpaid day off (RDO).
