Occupational Therapist

Location: Philip, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Department: Occupational Therapy
• Patient Load: 6-8 patients per day (dependent on overall caseload)
• Unit Staffing: 3 PTs, 1 PTA, 1 COTA, 1 OT, 1 SLP
• Patient Types:

  • Post-surgical patients
  • Orthopedics (total joints – knees & hips, ORIF, etc.)
  • Neurologic conditions (post-stroke, Parkinson’s, MS, etc.)
  • Sports medicine
  • Complex medical cases
• Settings Covered:

  • Outpatient (less than 10% of time)
  • Inpatient swing bed
  • Assisted Living
  • Long-Term Care (LTC) / Skilled Nursing (majority of time)
• Floating: May be asked to float between outpatient, inpatient swing bed, assisted living, and LTC/skilled nursing. Also may float between hospital and two nursing homes (one approx. 25 miles away). Drive time compensated.

Schedule

• 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each
• Flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
• Occasional weekend work (rare)
• No holiday work required
• Schedule set by Director of Rehab and Office Assistant; no self-scheduling

Orientation & Productivity

• Department-specific orientation provided by Director of Rehab, typically 1 week
• By week 2, expected to carry a full patient load of 6-8 patients per day
• Expected productivity: 75%

Required Qualifications

• Must have 2 years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist (clinical experience does not count)
• Prefer candidates with experience in LTC/Skilled Nursing and long-term recovery therapy (e.g., patients from immediate post-op to 1-2 months post-op)
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • South Dakota OT license
  • BLS Certification
  • Mobility Certified (COMS)

Dress Code

• Any color scrubs or business casual attire
