Respiratory Therapist

Location: Yuma, Arizona
Shift: Days (6a - 6p)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: Not specified


Job Overview

  • Manage 5-6 ventilators and perform approximately 35 treatments in a 12-hour shift.
  • Patient population includes adults, pediatrics, and neonates (only if NICU trained).
  • Attend all deliveries and C-sections if NICU trained.
  • Work areas include inpatient units and a freestanding emergency department (15-minute drive away), with possible floating between locations.
  • Assist with intubations but independent intubation is not required.
  • Intensivist available in-house 24/7.
  • Charge Respiratory Therapist on each shift.
  • May be the only RT in the freestanding emergency department but not alone in the main hospital.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Arizona.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
  • BLS.
  • ACLS.
  • PALS.

Equipment & Procedures

  • Ventilators: Vent-Avea, Hamilton C1, Bipap-V60, EV300, HiFlow Aerovo 2, Zoll vents (backup).
  • Intubation tools: Glidescope and Glidescope-GO.
  • Responsibilities include drawing and analyzing ABGs, performing treatments, and adjusting ventilator settings.

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Weekend work every other weekend.
  • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
  • May be placed on low census call or standby.
  • Floating to the freestanding emergency department may be required (15-minute drive).
  • Dress code: Black scrubs.

Orientation

  • One day each for Neonatal (NEO), Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and floor orientation.
  • Additional orientation day for NICU if applicable.

Additional Notes

  • Start dates are not flexible.
  • Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for travel.
