Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• BLS certification
• Non-Oregon licensed RNs may be eligible for a 90-day temporary license if a permanent license is not posted before the assignment start

Unit Details

• 38-bed Med/Surg Post Surgical unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 on days and nights
• Remote telemetry monitored by a tele tech on a separate unit
• Charge nurse available 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment
• CNA support available

Experience / Skills

• Experience with chest tubes, central lines, heparin drips, NG tubes, JP drains, wound vacs, and dressing changes is preferred
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Basic understanding of strip interpretation and lethal rhythms is expected

Schedule / Assignment Expectations

• No block scheduling
• Scheduling requests are not accommodated for travelers
• Weekend coverage may include every other weekend or more, depending on department needs
• May be placed on standby and called in during the shift if not needed
• Travelers float first within their skill set

Patient Population

• Post-surgical general, urology, abdominal, amputations, trauma, and ENT patients
• Bariatric patients are not included
• Unit does not typically manage cardiac, ortho, or neuro patients

Additional Notes

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation in the first work week
• 2 additional 12-hour unit orientation shifts
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
