• Department size: 2 South has 18 beds; 3 South has 22 beds

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Last four digits of SSN
• Clinician’s middle initial
• Requested time off

Preferred

• PALS
• At least 2 years of experience
• Previous travel experience

Clinical Details

• Patient population includes medical acute cases such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic, surgical, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• RN-to-patient ratios: Days 1:5; Nights 1:5-6
• RNs monitor tele strips
• Bi-pap home regimen patients should be stable and alert
• High-flow support is used on the unit
• Charge nurse takes 1-2 patients
• PCT ratios: Days 1:8-10; Eves 1:9-10; Nights 1:10-12
• Floating may include ICU for general acute overflow patients or Ottawa Campus to staff greatest need
• If floating to Ottawa Campus, notice is given at least 2 hours before shift start

Schedule and Unit Expectations

• 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required
• Low census may result in 4-hour call periods, re-evaluated every 4 hours
• Unit orientation is usually 3 shifts
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours

Additional Notes

• Solid color scrubs only; no prints, tasteful
• Local rate applies within 50 miles
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
