14-bed acute care unit
Main campus hospital with 483 beds

Schedule

Nights
12-hour shifts
36 hours per week
Every other weekend
Rotate with permanent staff

Required Qualifications

RN license
BLS (AHA)
NIHSS
2 years of specialty experience
1 travel assignment
Must have experience with the same type of hospital acuity
Must have experience at a larger organization with high acuity, high turnover, and fast pace
Must be able to handle 1:6 ratios on days and nights
Strict 75-mile radius rule

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS

Clinical / Patient Population

Medical patients including diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psych
Some overflow post-surgical patients
May have hospice in the future

Additional Details

Primary care nursing
Nurses are not required to read strips
May float to acute care and cardio for medical patients or EC for acute care patient holds
CNA support is generally 1:12, with possible 1:1 and sitter coverage
CPAP used; BiPAP only at night
Dress code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top and Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white
No artificial or Shellac nails; nails may only be polished
Strict attendance policy
No bags at the nurses station; locker with lock allowed
