Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST/ORT)

Location

• Lewiston, Maine
• 8 Operating Rooms, approximately 575 cases per month
• Level 3 Trauma Center
• Community hospital setting with inpatient and outpatient services

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4 days a week, 10-hour shifts)
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Call Requirements: 3 weeknights per month and 1 weekend per month
• Float Required within OR and Supplies department

Unit Profile

• Main OR includes specialties such as cardiac, orthopedic, gynecology, general surgery, ENT, urology, plastics, robotics, podiatry, and endoscopy
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
• Scrub color provided via scrub dispenser

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NBSTSA certification or Certification Scrub Tech
• Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record system

Preferred Experience (not required but beneficial)

• Trauma and Level I trauma experience
• Experience with advanced vascular and cardiac procedures such as:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Atherectomy
  • Atrial Septal Defect Repair
  • Cardiomyoplasty
  • Carotid Endarterectomy
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
  • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
  • Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
  • Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
  • Mitral Valve Replacement
  • Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
  • Vein Stripping

• Only out-of-state travelers considered for this position
• Exposure to a wide variety of surgical cases including gynecological procedures (e.g., abdominal hysterectomy, laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, robotic assisted gynecological procedures)
• Work environment includes a teaching hospital with Joint Commission accreditation
