Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Travel Position
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Labor and Delivery RN with at least 2 years of experience, preferably familiar with the LDRP model. The role involves care in labor and delivery, postpartum, c-section circulation, and special care nursery.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3x12-hour shifts), nights, self-scheduling
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: As needed
- Call Requirements: Yes
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- Beds: 24
- Patient Ratios: 1:6 (census varies from 3 to 24 patients)
- Patient Population: Neonates and adults
- Equipment: External Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV pumps
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems: EPIC, Powerchart, Omnicell Med System
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum) care
- Postpartum nursing experience
- Nursery experience
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Manage a 3-couplet assignment (mother and baby pairs)
- Triage obstetrical patients
- Use and interpret External Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Start and maintain peripheral IVs
- Administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and recover C-sections
- Perform APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
- Provide baby nurse duties including cord sample collection, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation with radiant warmers
- Epidural anesthesia pain assessment and management
- Postpartum care and procedures for mother and baby
- Circulate for C-sections (preferred)
- Experience with Level 1 Nursery and Mother/Baby care (preferred)

- No first-time travelers accepted
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
