Shift & Hours

• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Med/Surg unit (no OR candidates accepted)
• Patient ratios: 5:1 for surgical patients, 3:1 for stepdown area

Unit Description

• Acute care surgical floor with inpatients pre- or post-surgical
• Includes care for patients with new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, nasogastric tubes (NGT), or double lumen hemodialysis catheters (DHT)
• Some patients require stepdown care (PCU)
• Stepdown/PCU experience required
• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and physician orders
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Obtain and monitor physiological data; intervene as necessary
• Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
• Communicate care plans with patients and families, including at discharge
• Make referrals for patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience caring for patients with new drains, tracheostomies, and ostomies
• Acute care experience
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
