Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care for adult to geriatric patients in a cardiac telemetry setting.
• Manage continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips.
• Patient population includes overflow IMCU, arrhythmia management, cardioversion, CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional vascular, post cardiac cath with TR bands, DKA, and occasional ortho or CVA overflow.
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge required.
• Unit census: 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:5-6.
• Unit systems include Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each).
• Typically scheduled every other weekend; travelers fill in gaps after permanent staff scheduling.
• Floating within the facility as needed and within scope of practice.
• Call is rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex.
• Holiday work required if major holidays fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Experience managing continuous IV medications and infusions, including:

  • Cardiac continuous IV drips: Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
  • Continuous IV diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
  • Continuous IV anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
  • Insulin drips

Compliance & Onboarding

• Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling.
• Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including education verification.
• Physical exam within 12 months required.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start required.
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
  • Flu vaccination or documented declination required during flu season.
• Required to review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies.

Additional Information

• Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time is 7 days per contract.
• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers.
• Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length.
• References: Two clinical references required.
• Skills checklist and work history verification required within 12 months; can be pending at start with proof of processing.

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable managing complex cardiac patients and IV drips in a fast-paced telemetry unit.
