Job Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
  • Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Rotating 4x10 hour shifts (07:00-17:30 early, 07:00-17:30 late, 10:00-20:30 close as needed)
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-Call: Rotating call including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Floating: Yes, within service line scope
  • Local Radius Rule: Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Unit & Patient Care Information

  • Ratios: 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Unit Type: High volume, high acuity Cath Lab procedural area
  • Patient Diagnoses Commonly Seen: Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), Chest Pain, Heart Failure, NSTEMI, Aortic Stenosis, Ventricular Tachycardia (V-Tach), Endocarditis, Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), Peripheral Vascular Disease, Sick Sinus Syndrome
  • Role: RN Circulator in diagnostic and interventional PCI environment
  • Responsibilities: Provide conscious sedation under physician direction, hand off sterile supplies, assess vitals, document in EPIC, cross-train to run hemodynamics in monitor tech role
  • Special Requirements: Level 1 trauma experience and interventional scrub experience required
  • Special Equipment: EPIC documentation system, Impella device, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 trauma patients
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Cath Lab experience, specifically in cardiac catheterization procedures

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches, education verification, and quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Drug Testing: Required within 1 year of start, must include standard panels (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP), updated annually
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year
    • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) renewed annually
    • Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB testing (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with specific unit exemptions)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
  • Facility-Specific Documents:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
    • Hand Hygiene Policy
    • Fingernail Policy
    • Dress Code Policy
    • Orientation Modules (approximately 16 hours, required for all RNs)
    • Vehicle Registration (for day shift workers)
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, taken within 6 months)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
    • Unit-specific competency exam (updated annually)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for new contracts starting 3/31/25 or later)
  • References: Two professional references required; supervisors within last year preferred

  • Locals: Not accepted for this travel position
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Parking: Monthly parking passes available for a fee; no charge for straight night shifts with employee parking access
  • Performance Evaluations: May be completed upon assignment completion but not required for extensions or per diem
