Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Position
Location: Santa Cruz, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments independently according to physician-developed treatment plans.
- Deliver safe, precise procedures with sound clinical judgment and effective patient communication.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.
- Shift start times flexible between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Radiation Therapy)
- Must have experience with Elekta, Mosaiq, and AlignRT systems.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT (Radiation Therapist) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid California State License for Radiation Therapist
Work Schedule
- Day shifts, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (either 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 12:00 PM–8:00 PM)
- Total 40 hours per week
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing and respiratory safety clearance required prior to start.
Additional Requirements
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire must be completed and signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Candidates requesting religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval.

- Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
