Job Overview

Travel/contract pediatric stepdown RN role in Chicago, Illinois
Day shift: 4x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
Start date: ASAP
Contract length: 13 weeks
First-timers not accepted
Local candidates accepted
Pending license accepted
Block scheduling may be accommodated
Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
Weekend coverage required every other weekend
On-call not required

Unit Details

Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds
Cares for patients ages 2 weeks to 18 years
50–60% of patients have technology dependence
Acute care unit for children with chronic illness
No drips or surgical patients

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Pediatric PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
Pediatric PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS issued by American Heart Association
PALS issued by American Heart Association
Ventilator experience
Tracheostomy experience
G tube experience
1:4 patient ratio experience
Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown experience
Experience with Meditech

Preferred

PICU experience

Schedule and Hours

4x12 schedule accepted
Guaranteed hours: 48 per week for 4x12 shifts

Compliance and Health Requirements

Flu vaccination required; exemptions accepted for medical and religious reasons
COVID vaccination required; exemptions not accepted
Drug screen required within 30 days of start
Physical exam within 1 year of start
Tdap within the past 10 years
Negative TB test or chest X-ray required
Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation required
