Schedule

  • Night shift
  • 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating required as needed

Assignment Length

  • 13 weeks or longer

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
  • Experience with conscious sedation
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Central line care and management
  • PICC line management
  • Heparin Protocols

Required Skills

  • ICU stepdown / PCU / DOU / IMC / stepdown experience
  • Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Rapid response team experience
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line, peripheral line, and PICC management
  • Heparin protocols
  • CVA care
  • Chest tube management
  • External CPAP/BIPAP
  • High-flow nasal cannula

Unit Details

  • ICU stepdown unit with a 1:3-4 target ratio
  • Strong drip experience is emphasized
  • One pressor drip per patient on the unit; additional pressors require transfer to ICU
  • No vents on the unit

  • Post-rapid-response patients
  • Respiratory distress
  • Unstable hemodynamics
  • Withdrawal
  • GI bleeds
  • Post-op GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomy, neuro, and ortho patients
  • Pre/post OB patients with complications

Additional Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Navy, white, or a combination of the two scrubs are permitted
