Job Details

Job Requirements
- Float: Required
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend or 2 per month
- Holiday Coverage: Required (no time off during holidays such as Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day)
- RN to Patient Ratio: 1:2 or 1:3
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Actual downloaded certification required; must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or online test within 12 months)
- Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 12 months)
- Core Part I, II, and III Competency Exams (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually)
Required Licenses
- Valid Tennessee RN license (must be current and not expiring within 45 days of assignment start)
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA (fit for duty)
- Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted
- TB Questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Drug testing within 45 days of start (specific panel required)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination required for 2025-26 season (declinations not accepted; exemptions only for medical or religious reasons with documentation)
- Background check within 45 days of start, including 7-year history and alias name attestation if applicable
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details
- 2 supervisory references from the past 3 years
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation requirements.
- Time off requests during holidays will not be accommodated.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable with float assignments, weekend and holiday coverage.
