Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
- Patient population includes those undergoing cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
- Night shift
- Scheduling: 36 or 48 hours available; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Maximum 40 hours allowed for time off
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license in Virginia (VA license pending submissions accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Must adhere to facility float policy
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)

- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Qgold; chest x-ray if positive)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody positive titer or antigen titer as per protocol
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; declination accepted but must be documented)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions)
- Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and other standard screenings
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment
- Professional appearance guidelines and compliance documents must be reviewed and acknowledged

- References and clinical evaluations may be required for credentialing
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing on cardiac rhythms with remediation if needed
- Float policy adherence is mandatory
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed; scheduling flexibility required
