Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology RN - Outpatient Chemo)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC Advanced)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, Management of Assaultive Behavior (as applicable)
- Charting System: Epic required
- Patient Diagnoses: All cancer diagnoses, including hematology malignant and non-malignant
- Unit Details: Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy administration
Requirements & Compliance
- Licensure: Primary source online verification required; NURSYS verification required for RN
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification required (transcript/diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency, color blind testing, and other core competency exams as applicable
- Orientation: Must review and sign orientation packet and safety manual acknowledgment prior to start
- Documentation: Clear headshot photo required for badge
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment.
- Prior travel experience is explicitly required for this role.
- All certifications and competencies must be current and verifiable.
- Compliance with all health and background requirements is mandatory before start date.
This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with travel experience who are certified in chemotherapy administration and comfortable working in an outpatient chemo setting using Epic charting.
