Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Orientation held twice a month.
  • Float to a sister facility occasionally (lower acuity).
  • Coverage required every other weekend.
  • Patient ratio: 1:2.
  • No local candidates accepted.
  • EPIC electronic medical record system experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona.
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including multi-county/state searches and federal databases must be completed within 30 days of assignment start.
  • Drug testing (12 panel) must be completed within 72 hours of booking and within 30 days of assignment start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA.
  • Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year.
  • Immunizations and/or titers required with no declinations accepted for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B vaccine or positive titer required; declinations allowed with signed form.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within past 10 years; declinations allowed except for select pediatric and labor & delivery units.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – April 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgements.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required.
  • Medication and specialty competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher.
  • HIPAA competency updated annually with passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 3 years, including one supervisory reference.
  • Employment application with detailed work history for the last 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained.

Additional Information

  • Must be willing to float occasionally to a lower acuity sister facility.
  • Orientation dates available twice monthly.
  • No local candidates accepted for this travel contract.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment with occasional floating duties.
