Unit has 32 beds.
Hours per week: 36.
Contract length: 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

PCU experience
Trach experience

Unit Details

Location: Main Methodist, 5th floor, North Tower
Patient ratio: 1:4, sometimes 1:5
Floating areas: Medsurg, Medsurg PCU, ED holds
Shift start times: 0645 and 1845
Rotating weekends
No on call

Clinical Focus

Telemetry
Airways: Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy
Bowel procedures including small bowel resection, lower anterior resection, ileostomy or colostomy placement and reversal, fistula repairs, hernia repairs, and Nissen fundoplications
Pulmonary procedures including bronchoscopy, lobectomies, thorascopies, wedge resections, and chest tube placement
Mastectomies, modified radical neck dissections, and thyroidectomy
Routine care for JP drains, biliary drains, abdominal or chest tube drains, TPN, and tube feeds
