Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) - Travel Contract

Location: Santa Maria, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Work setting: Operating Room (OR) with 7 suites
• Cases per day: 18-20
• Shift: Days, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Shift length: Variable (8 or 10 hours)
• Floating: Pre-op and Post-op only
• Call requirement: Yes, including some nights and weekends; approximately 1 week of nights per month and 2 weekend 12-hour call shifts per month
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Weekend requirement: No for RNs
• Holidays: Yes
• Charge nurse duties: Yes
• EMR system: Cerner
• Scrub color/uniform: Provided
• Scrubbing required for RNs: Not required but preferred
• Common case types: Laparoscopic, Bariatrics, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynecology, ENT
• Support staff available: OR techs, RT 24/7, Pharmacy 24/7, Surgeon on call 24/7
• Telemetry equipment: Phillips
• Ventilators: Yes

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RNFA or nurse
• Active California RN license
• BLS (AHA) certification
• ACLS certification
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification

Additional Information

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 or 2:1
• Orientation: Floor-specific orientation provided
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred for techs

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• No weekend shifts required for RNs, but call shifts include some weekends and nights.
