Unit: IMCU (2 West)

Required Qualifications

Active CA RN license
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
2-3 years experience in specialty
Able to read and interpret telemetry strips
Must pass a dysrhythmia exam onsite on day one
COVID vaccine required

Preferred

Open to first-time travelers

Unit Details

Common patient types include CHF, COPD, renal failure, respiratory failure, alcohol withdrawal, and post PCI
Ratios are 1:3-4
Central telemetry monitoring with 2 monitor techs
Nurses do not titrate drips
Common drips include DKA, heparin gtt, amiodarone gtt, and Cardizem gtt
2-3 unit aides
RT equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC; no vents
Floating to 4West or Med/Surg departments
4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
Holiday coverage follows perm staff rotation
No call or standby
Navy scrubs
1 shift of unit orientation

Great hospital. Kind and friendly staff.

Cons

The cafeteria is a hit and miss. Some days they have great sea food with saffron rice! Some days microwaved food :D. But there is alwaaaaays, pizza available ;)
