Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Nursing Resource Team

Job Summary
Join the Nursing Resource Team (NRT), a hospital-wide float department providing nursing care across multiple units including ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health (Adult Acute, Youth Acute, Addiction Recovery). This role requires flexibility, strong time management, and the ability to adapt to various patient populations and care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care across diverse units: ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, Behavioral Health, and Addiction Recovery.
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and document nursing care for assigned patients.
- Assist physicians during exams and procedures.
- Administer medications and perform patient tests within RN scope of practice.
- Promote patient independence through education on conditions, medications, and self-care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver culturally competent, patient-centered care.
- Float between units as needed, with schedules communicated in advance and possible mid-shift reassignments.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in all of the following areas (can be concurrent):
- Emergency Room (ER)
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) — experience must be within the last 2 years
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
- Behavioral Health/Psych (Adult Acute, Youth Acute, Addiction Recovery)
- Experience with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho or compact state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA certified.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Restraint C certification (can be completed during orientation).
- MOAB 8-hour class (covered during onboarding).
- Boundaries 1-hour module (covered during onboarding).
- Department of Health & Welfare Background Fingerprinting (required due to Behavioral Health floating).
Education
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program (BSN highly preferred).
Schedule & Work Environment
- 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730.
- Schedule varies based on unit needs.
- Every other weekend required.
- Float assignments communicated 2 hours prior to shift; mid-shift floating possible.
- Typical units served have 21-35 beds.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- ICU: 1:1-2
- Med/Surg & ED boarded Med/Surg: 1:5-6
- PCU: 1:3-4
- Behavioral Health (day): 1:5-6
- Behavioral Health (overnight): 1:10
Additional Information
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
- Orientation includes training on restraints, lifts, and behavioral health protocols.
- Candidate must be willing and able to float across all specified units, with majority time likely in Med Surg and Behavioral Health.
