Registered Nurse (Neuro Progressive)

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Employment Type: Traveler - Backfill
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7pm - 7am
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Care for Neuro Stepdown/Progressive patients, including drip titration for experienced nurses.
• If not experienced with drip titration, will float to MedSurg/Telemetry units.
• Equipment used: EPIC, PYXIS, Philips defibrillator, Philips Bedside Monitors.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3-4:1 on Progressive unit, 4-5:1 on MedSurg.
• Floating required to like units as needed; PCU nurses may float down to MedSurg with a 1:3 ratio.
• Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs.
• Orientation includes Jumpstart program, EPIC training, plus 1-2 days on the unit.
• Employee will never work alone.
• Schedule includes three weekend shifts out of a 4-week rotation.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Indiana (IN RN license or compact license).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU or Stepdown nursing.
• Previous neuro experience required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (can be obtained before start).

Additional Information

• Candidates must be able to attend required training and orientation before starting.
• Floating to other units is a mandatory part of the role.
