Surgical Tech Position
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with on-call duties
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Summary
The Surgical Technician assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon throughout the procedure. This role requires knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, and the ability to respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations. The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy.
- Adhere to professional standards of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
