Radiologic Technologist

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Direct Hire
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

• Perform general diagnostic radiology procedures with thorough knowledge of departmental protocols and policies.
• Maintain active RT(R) credentials.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and protocol issues.
• Share knowledge with employees and students in the work unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographics, emulsion markers, and examination requests for accuracy.
• Critique, orient, save, and transmit quality-assured images to PACS.
• Document procedure completion or cancellation in RIS, including comments when appropriate.
• Maintain image management equipment and report any problems.
• Use RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS systems to access information, document procedure status, and modify orders as needed.
• Verify patient identity and relevant history, including pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation.
• Assess patient physical condition and develop an action plan for examinations.
• Determine if additional medical personnel or equipment is needed and take appropriate action.
• Assist patients requiring extra attention and respond to emergency situations to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and document incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
• Radiology Technologist experience within the last year (including entry-level/0 years of experience)
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Experience using HIS (Hospital Information System)
