Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II

Location

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • 3 days of call per month, including a mix of weekend and weekday call
  • May be scheduled at an outpatient clinic off site from the main campus
  • May cover procedures in the OR and cardiac catheterization lab
  • May be required to perform fetal echocardiograms

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in Pediatric Echocardiography
  • Pediatric Echocardiography experience within the last year
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association upon hire
  • One of the following certifications:
    • ARDMS: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
    • CCI: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
    • ARRT: Radiography (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CI), Sonography (S), or Vascular Sonography (VS)

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics
  • Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and staff
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, exercise sound judgment, manage confidential information, and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes
  • Ability to multitask, remain calm under stress, and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to understand operations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical assignments independently
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies and terminology associated with the primary and post-primary specialties for which hired and credentialed
  • Ability to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation with limited direction

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient care and support services in a variety of care settings
  • Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with ordered procedures
  • Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary care team
  • Use specialized imaging equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures
  • Review completed studies to confirm required elements, documentation, and technical quality
  • Transfer images and data to archival systems and prepare studies for physician reporting
  • Perform quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and user maintenance
  • Participate in continuing education, professional development, and research activities
  • Provide instruction and mentorship to less experienced team members
  • Prepare and present in-service training
  • Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks
