Pharmacist

Job Overview

• Location: Jamaica, New York
• Contract length: 14 weeks
• Shift: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Hours: 35 per week

Role Summary

Hospital outpatient pharmacist responsible for reviewing prescriptions, monitoring drug therapy, communicating with providers, supervising pharmacy technicians, and counseling patients and caregivers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in New York
• Pharmacist (1 year of experience)
• Pharmacist experience within the last year
• Bachelor's degree or higher in pharmacy

Preferred Experience

• Pharmacy dispensing system experience
• Sterile processing experience
• IV room experience
• Knowledge of an EMR system
• High-volume prescription experience in a retail pharmacy setting
• Familiarity with EPIC Willow Ambulatory orders and inventory

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient prescriptions and profiles for accuracy and appropriateness
• Fill prescriptions according to established policies, procedures, and New York State law
• Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and allergies
• Communicate with providers to clarify prescriptions
• Provide clinical consultation, including cost-effective therapeutic alternatives
• Be familiar with billing procedures and third-party contracts
• Supervise pharmacy technicians
• Provide medication counseling to patients and caregivers
