Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Rotating day/evening shifts, Monday through Friday
  • Shift lengths alternate between 8 and 10 hours (examples: 06:40–15:10, 09:10–17:40, 06:40–17:10)
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call required

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year of OR Circulate experience, with experience within the last year required
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings required upon hire and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Drug screening required to meet standard (not required annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series with positive titer or facility-specific declination form required if providing direct patient care or exposure to blood/body fluids
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13)
  • Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)

Testing & Competency Requirements

  • Facility-specific telemetry testing (Adult Telemetry Test) required for applicable units, with strict passing criteria and remediation process
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Annual skills checklist required

Facility-Specific Documentation

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Communicable disease form completed within 90 days of start
  • Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Start dates available: June 15, June 22, June 29
  • Physical exam not required by facility but collected to meet agency standards
  • Employment application required for all candidates
