Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Facility Overview
- Short-term acute care hospital
- Major teaching hospital and Level I trauma center
- Approximately 978 staffed beds
- Uses EPIC for charting
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including SSN trace, county checks for past 7 years, sex offender, education verification, and sanction lists must be completed within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific documentation if history of positive TB)
- Required immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years, no exemptions)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive antibody titers, no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; may start with 2nd booster pending)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklists required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training may be required depending on unit; training provided onsite if needed
- Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for orientation and work access

- Guaranteed hours
- Locals accepted within 75 miles (local rate applies)
- Candidates must complete all required online orientation modules prior to start
- Competency checklists must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
- Facility uses strict compliance with credentialing and onboarding requirements to maintain contract eligibility
