ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Utica, New York
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Location: Utica, New York
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 7:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2, occasionally 1:3
- Floating: Must be able to float within skillset
- Local Candidates: Accepted within a 75-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Required Training & Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU; expires every 3 years)
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement)
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start and updated annually (specific approved mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccine proof, or documented chickenpox history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start date
Documentation & Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form (required prior to start)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residence/work/school history
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
- HHS/OIG (annual)
- Education verification
- Professional references: 2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care (within 3 years)
- Signed facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment
- Photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings or inappropriate gestures)
- Signed Omnicell form (for nursing staff)
- Completion of all required facility-specific documents and modules before first shift
