Job Opportunity: Physicist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Oakland, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Required Certification: ABR (American Board of Radiology)
• Required Skills/Experience:

  • HDR (High Dose Rate)
  • SRS (Stereotactic Radiosurgery)
  • SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy)
  • TBI (Total Body Irradiation)
  • IORT (Intraoperative Radiation Therapy)
• Responsibilities include:

  • Handling standard radiation cases with a higher volume of breast and prostate cancers; also lung, hepatobiliary, brain, multiple myeloma, sarcomas, etc.
  • Performing quality assurance, calibration, and repair of radiation therapy equipment.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the radiation oncology team regarding equipment status and downtime plans.
  • Performing radiation therapy treatments daily, with calibration and quality assurance tasks done after normal business hours.

Required Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and international search if applicable.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, FACIS Level 3 screening (monthly updates required).
• Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start.
• Education verification (highest level achieved).
• Employment history verification for 7 years with no gaps over 30 days.
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied positions.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
• Other certifications may be required depending on position (verify with recruiter).
• State License verification (primary source online verification within 30 days of start).
• Tech Certification verification (as applicable).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work).
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Immunizations and/or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal required)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – proof of immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella (Chickenpox) – proof of immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Candidates must review and sign various facility documents prior to start, including:

  • Confidentiality Agreements
  • HIPAA Agreement
  • Regulatory Orientation
  • Code of Conduct and Vendor Training (updated for 2024 and 2025 contracts)
  • TB Screening Questionnaire (within 90 days, renewed annually)
• Additional competency documents may be required depending on discipline (e.g., Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Social Work).
• Religious exemption forms available for certain requirements (e.g., facial hair for fit testing, vaccines).
