Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Home Health
Location: Walnut Creek, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide occupational therapy services in a home health setting.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday with one weekend day on call.
- Local candidates are welcome.
- Home Health experience preferred but candidates without it will be considered.
- OASIS experience is required.
- Hours are based on completed visits (25 visits = 40 hours).
- COVID vaccination exemptions permitted.
- Mileage reimbursement follows IRS standard.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Occupational Therapist license preferred; candidates with a pending CA license who have applied may be considered.
- OASIS experience required.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in occupational therapy (defaulting to higher experience if discrepancies arise).
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor or Provider acceptable, required for all.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM as applicable.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
- Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% or higher if Angoff score applies.
- Occupational Therapists are not required to have NBCOT certification but must meet other licensure requirements.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Valid passport copy before start.
- Background checks including 7-year history and annual updates.
- Photo for badge (passport style).
- Personal or auto insurance with current expiration dates.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP vaccine within past 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (for those born 1957 or later).
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination accepted if within 1 year).
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination accepted.
- COVID vaccination proof or medical/religious exemption required.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Two professional references required.
Additional Notes
- Mileage reimbursement provided between patient visits.
- Hours guaranteed if 25 or more visits are completed.
- Candidates must review and sign training content and hand hygiene policy prior to start.
- Auto registration and insurance documentation required and must be kept current during assignment.
