Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shifts: Various days of the week, 1745 - 0615, 3x12 hour shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Unit: Women's and Infants Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Unit Characteristics: Fast-paced environment with approximately 150 births per month
- Responsibilities:
- Circulate in the OR
- Place internal monitors
- OB triage experience required
- Manage laboring and high-risk obstetrics patients
- Charting system: Epic
- Weekend shifts required as per unit needs
- On-call required as per unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- OB triage experience
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume L&D unit
- Ability to manage high-risk OB patients and perform OB triage
- Must be comfortable circulating in the OR and placing internal monitors
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Verification of highest level of education from accredited nursing schools
- Annual and pre-employment health and competency documentation including:
- Physical exam signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA (not Chiropractor)
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season
- COVID vaccination proof or signed declination
- Color blind exam (Ishihara test) prior to start date
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required annually
- References: 2 references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year, preferably from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Work Environment
- 14 staffed beds in the L&D unit
- Navy scrub color required
Notes
- Weekend and on-call shifts are required based on unit needs
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- First-time travel nurses are accepted if experience and certification requirements are met
