Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to perform respiratory therapy modalities in a progressive healthcare environment. The role involves managing complex life support systems and making critical decisions affecting patient care across a wide range of patient ages, from neonatal to geriatric.
Schedule
- Nights, 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts)
- Shift hours: 18:45 to 07:15
- Every other weekend required
- No call and no floating
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in California
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory care procedures including ventilator management, oxygen administration, aerosolized medication delivery, hyperinflation therapy, and diagnostic procedures such as bronchoscopy and blood gas analysis
- Manage airway and cardiac support during emergency codes
- Assess patients and deliver respiratory care per protocols and physician orders
- Monitor patients using pulse oximetry, apnea monitors, and other devices
- Provide patient instruction on breathing exercises and home care routines
- Maintain accurate documentation of all therapy performed
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members
- Participate in in-service education, staff meetings, and respond to Code Blue calls as needed
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including social security trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and other screenings as required
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law) within 6 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or approved declination
- Respiratory safety clearance completed prior to start and renewed annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, confidentiality, and compliance documents prior to start

- Candidate must have a full 7 years of verifiable work history with no significant gaps
- References required per agency standards (not required by client)
