Registered Nurse - PCU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) that functions as a true ICU stepdown. The unit manages heart catheterizations, BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio), and PCU crisis criteria.
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- National Tech Cert Verification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Experience in charge nurse roles
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drips
- High flow oxygen experience
- Experience working in Level I, Level II, Level III, or Level IV units
Shift Details
- 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours per workweek
- 3 twelve-hour shifts: 36 hours per workweek
- 4 twelve-hour shifts: 48 hours per workweek
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit
Licensure
- Must have an active Indiana RN license prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of work/living history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency exam
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (supervisory level)

- Charting system: Cerner
- Free parking
- Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
