Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown / Telemetry floor
  • 24-bed unit
  • Comprehensive stroke center, Level II Trauma, Chest Pain Accredited
  • Provides complex care including PCI and open-heart surgery patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
  • Charting system: Epic

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
  • PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, minimum 1 year, within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or documented history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (during flu season)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years

Additional Information

  • 100-mile radius travel rule applies
  • Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams may be required
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certifications as applicable
  • Fingerprinting and other background checks may be required depending on location
