Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (day and night shifts rotating as needed).
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• PCU/Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred but not required.

Orientation and Competency Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Passing scores on medication administration (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation exams during orientation.
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required.

Additional Information

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated regularly.
• Education verification required for all candidates.
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care; gaps must be explained.
• Photo for badge required (specific to certain roles).
• Candidates must comply with facility policies on name consistency across documents.
• Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start date.
• Must be prepared to complete all onboarding and compliance documentation timely to avoid delays.

Shift Details

• Rotating day and night shifts:

  • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week).

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown nurses with current Ohio licensure and required certifications, ready to work a travel contract with rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
