Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Surgical Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length

  • 14 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Day/Evening shifts, 8 hours per day (10:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
  • Monday through Friday
  • On-call responsibilities for weeknights, weekends, and holidays

Job Description

  • Provide surgical technologist support in pediatric operating room settings
  • Strong skills needed in Eyes, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics cases

Required Qualifications

  • Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Successful completion of a surgical technologist program
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Strong skills in Eyes, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including nationwide and multi-location searches for the past 7 years
  • Monthly monitoring through federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Education verification required if surgical technologist program completed
  • Wisconsin state-mandated caregiver screening and BID form completion required prior to start
  • Physical exam collected to meet agency standards (not required by facility)
  • Drug screening required per agency standards (not required annually)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of one adult Tdap vaccination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series with positive titer or facility-specific declination form if declining
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology (if applicable)
  • Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, solid background, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Facility-specific forms for communicable diseases and vaccine exemptions must be completed as required

Testing and Competency

  • Pediatric Telemetry Test required for all pediatric inpatient units (NICU, PICU, Pediatric unit)
  • Pass/fail testing for telemetry and medication competency exams as applicable
  • Remediation and retesting policies apply for telemetry exams (up to 3 attempts with required remediation after 2nd failure)
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Annual skills checklist completion
  • Employment application and 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required
