Job Opportunity: Oncology Nurse Navigator RN (Registered Nurse)

Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)

Role Summary

• Position: Nurse Navigator RN specializing in Oncology
• Work setting: New state-of-the-art Cancer Center (Outpatient Facility)
• Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients undergoing ongoing Oncology treatment
  • Manage administrative workload related to Oncology patient care plans
• Note: Candidates must agree to an administrative-focused role

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 3+ years preferred (2 years will be screened)
• Oncology experience required
• Certifications: ONCC/ONS certification required
• Licensure: Must have an active RN license for California (pending state license not accepted)
• First-time travelers accepted
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• No floating between units required
• Locals accepted but not required

• Facility Type: Outpatient Cancer Center
• Charting System: EPIC

Required Certifications (Must be current and verifiable)

• ONCC/ONS Oncology Certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Check:

  • Must be within 45 days of start date
  • Covers all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and Sex Offender checks, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and international background if applicable
• Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations & Health Documents:

  • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator Fit Testing: Required for travel candidates, updated annually
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years
• Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format

Training & Competency Requirements

• Must complete Providence Health and Services required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:

  • Core Modules for RN in California
  • Specialty-specific modules as applicable
  • Annual regulatory requirements
• Epic Training: Completion of EPIC modules required (specific to Providence system)
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Skills Checklist: Annual update required for applicable units

Additional Notes

• Float Policy: Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
• Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
• State-specific requirements apply for Washington and Oregon placements (not applicable here)
