Job Details

  • Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

  • California RN Licensure
  • Minimum 4 years of nursing experience
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA or ARC)
    • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Ability to float to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg units
  • No on-call requirement

Certifications & Competencies

  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (expiration 1-2 years)
    • CCRN (Critical Care RN) – verify by position
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years, verify by position
    • PALS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – verify by position if applicable
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – typically for L&D, verify by position
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – verify by position
    • IV Certification (if applicable)
    • State License verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
    • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, APM) within 30 days of start
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some Telemetry units)
    • Unit-specific competency exams as required

Background Checks & Screening

  • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including:
    • Social Security Trace with all aliases
    • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
    • Nationwide Sex Offender Search (within 90 days of start)
    • Education Verification (highest level achieved, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
    • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
    • OFAC Sanctions List and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List (if FACIS III cannot be run)
  • Employment application with full 7 years of work history (no gaps)
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years (explanations required for gaps over 30 days)
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical positions (within 3 years)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: proof of immunity or vaccination series
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella: proof of immunity or vaccination series
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
  • Color Blind Exam (in-person, if applicable)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (renewed annually, not required for some roles)

  • Review and sign facility-specific documents including:
    • Job Description
    • Standards of Business Conduct
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
