Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Massena, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Unit Accepts 1st Time Travelers: No
• Locals Accepted: Must live more than 50 miles away
• Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Pneumonia, Non-specific abdominal pain, Cellulitis, Chest pain rule out
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1:6
  • Nights: 1:7
  • Weekends: 1:8
• Electronic Health Record: Epic required

Experience & Certifications

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience Required: No (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred (AHA provider/instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)

Skills Required

• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care/management
• Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
• Non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• 7-year criminal background check including all aliases
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification (degree associated with specialty)
• State license verification (NY State online verification within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS verification for RN/LPN within 30 days of start
• Harassment prevention training certificate (New York, annual)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
• Photo for badge (passport-style, solid background)
• Facility-specific policy reviews (patient confidentiality, sexual harassment prevention, patient experience training, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (with titers or vaccinations)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccinations, or history)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required)
• Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Additional Requirements

• 7-year work history verification (Aya attestation letter acceptable as last resort)
• Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
• Two professional references required

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of specialty experience, who have prior travel contract experience, and meet the comprehensive certification and compliance requirements.
