Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Weekend coverage every third weekend
  • Scheduling Type: Self-scheduled
  • Patient Diagnoses include a mix of medical-surgical diagnoses or surgery such as:
    • Lymphoma
    • Neutropenia
    • Prostatectomy
    • Nephrectomy
    • Gynecological cancers
    • Lung cancers
    • Anemia
    • Pancreatitis
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details: Chemotherapy/biotherapy certificate through ONS required
  • Special Equipment: 3 portable monitors; occasional interpretation of EKG strips required

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Oncology Chemo Certified)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • Chemotherapy certification preferred (if no chemo cert, pay rate is reduced)
  • Required Competency:
    • Must pass an advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) competency exam within one year of start and update annually
  • Licensure: Valid RN license in Kentucky with primary source verification (NURSYS verification required)

Prior Travel Experience

  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are welcome

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, nationwide checks, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG
  • Education verification matching specialty required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
  • Fit mask test required annually (with waiver process for failed fit tests)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • References: 2 professional references required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required annually

Notes

  • Chemotherapy certification is preferred; lack of certification affects pay rate
  • Weekend coverage every third weekend is required
  • Candidate must be able to interpret EKG strips occasionally
  • Self-scheduling flexibility
