Travel Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit) - Cleveland, Ohio

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit)
  • Location: Cleveland, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may rotate as needed to meet hospital operational needs.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
  • Must have 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience counts).
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation.
  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried while on assignment.
  • Background checks, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI), and education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health requirements including:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption
  • Drug screening (10-panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
  • Pass/fail testing for ECG and medication competency during orientation.
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start, from a manager or supervisor.
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area.

Orientation & Competency

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing.
  • SafeMedicate and ECG rhythm recognition tests completed onsite during orientation.

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit prior travel experience required beyond the 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience counts).

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs with strong acute care backgrounds and required certifications, ready to work a 13-week travel contract in a high-acuity hospital setting with rotating 12-hour shifts.
