Job Opportunity: CT Scan Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: CT Scan Tech
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • On-call: Yes, on-call rotation with staff
  • Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
  • Daily Caseload: Varies per shift and location
  • Radiation Badge: Must be supplied by the agency; facility does NOT provide radiation badges to travelers

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 6 months Level 1 Trauma experience required
    • 1 year experience preferred
    • Siemens equipment experience required
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ARRT RT (R) (CT)
    • SCRQSA (R) (CT)
  • State License: Must have South Carolina license in hand at time of start (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Radiation Badge: Required for Radiology/Cardiology travelers (except MRI Techs, Mammography Techs, Pediatric Echo Techs, Ultrasound Techs)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Must include: SSN Trace, County checks outside SC, SC Statewide, Sex Offender Registry, National Criminal, FACIS 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Education & Licensure Verification

  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC license required
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs/LPNs/LVNs
  • All licensure hits must be approved by facility

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for certain units (not required for this tech position)
  • BLS - Required for all clinical staff
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for pediatric units only
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Not required for ER RNs
  • Other certifications as applicable based on unit and role

Health & Safety

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates required
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Color blindness test required prior to start
  • Competency exam required; pediatric OR competency exam preferred if applicable

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
  • Physical assessment form required for sterile processing techs (not applicable for this role)

Work History & References

  • Verification of last 3 clinical employers required (or all if fewer than 3)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations accepted
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps

Radius & Local Candidates

  • 60-mile radius rule applies
  • Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis

Additional Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to start
  • Agency responsible for radiation badge ordering and tracking; badges may take 5-7 days to arrive before starting floor work

This position is ideal for CT Scan Technologists with trauma and Siemens experience who are comfortable with rotating shifts and on-call duties in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital environment.
