Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Temp Position

Location: Mound City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive/assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment effectiveness and provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Contribute to discharge summaries and document all required information in electronic records.
• Accurately record treatment minutes per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Adhere to APTA and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Assist with obtaining necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist Assistant experience.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings.
• Valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license for the state of Missouri.

Additional Information

• Typical work hours: 8-hour day shifts.
• Productivity expectations: 90-93% for Assistants.
• Typical treatment times: ~1 hour for Medicare B patients; 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and Managed Care patients.
• Caseload may range from 7-12 patients per day depending on case mix.
• Group therapy is allowed and may be part of the schedule.
• Documentation is completed electronically, with dedicated devices provided for therapists.
