Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Associate degree in Ultrasound Technology or graduation from an accredited Sonography Program
• Current ARDMS registry
• RDMS
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in the listed Maternal-Fetal Medicine Ultrasound Technician III competencies

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of ultrasound experience
• Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification
• Bachelor’s degree

Role Overview

• Performs diagnostic imaging across all trimesters, including first-trimester dating, early anatomic assessments, detailed second- and third-trimester anatomy scans, fetal echocardiography, growth assessments, Doppler studies, and transvaginal ultrasound
• Works directly with perinatologists in a fetal imaging setting
• Participates in QA/QC and follows established imaging protocols
• Communicates procedures clearly to patients and assesses tolerance for the exam
• Assists the physician with additional imaging or biopsy procedures as needed
• Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner

Clinical Scope

• Obstetric ultrasound in all trimesters
• Transabdominal, transvaginal, multiplanar, and Doppler imaging
• Genetic sonograms and invasive diagnostic testing support
• Limited gynecologic ultrasound related to pregnancy findings

Additional Notes

• Must maintain current knowledge and skills for newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric patient care
• Protocols follow AIUM standards
