• Float pool includes MS & Tele

Required Qualifications

• RN
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• Experience with cardiac drips
• Experience with post cath lab
• Must be able to titrate drips

Patient Care / Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on day shift, 1:5 on night shift
• Common patient types include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Tele techs monitor 24/7; RN co-signs strips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are on the unit

Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Weekend requirement: minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: yes
• Call or standby requirement: determined by nurse manager

Float Scope

• May float to ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• In an extreme need, may float within Zone 3: OCH, LUH, SAH, SAN

Orientation

• Week of orientation is in state
• First-day modules may be remote
• Orientation date and location are assigned during the week of orientation

Dress Code

• Caribbean blue scrubs for RNs
