Registered Nurse – ER Float Pool

Location: Centennial, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule:

  • Schedules released 4–6 weeks in advance
  • Two scheduling formats:
    • Option A: Scheduled at a single facility for the week, may float within that facility
    • Option B (Just-In-Time): Facility assigned 1–2 hours before shift start via call
  • Weekend and holiday shifts every other week required

Job Overview

  • Role is ER/ED Float Pool within a 60-mile radius zone around Denver city center (Zone 3)
  • No home base facility; must float between multiple hospitals within the zone
  • Facilities include hospitals located 10 to 40 miles from Denver city center
  • Floating is mandatory across all zone facilities regardless of housing location
  • Orientation: 2-3 days unit/department specific; clinicians must be in-state for orientation week

Patient Care Environment

  • Trauma Level varies (mostly Level 3), majority are STEMI and Stroke receiving facilities
  • ER patient volume ranges from 40 to 168 patients per day depending on location
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 based on acuity
  • Mixed ER holds (no separate holding area)
  • No separate psych/seclusion rooms

  • Must be able to float within the entire Zone 3 (60-mile radius)
  • Must be flexible to fill scheduling gaps and work every other weekend and holiday
