Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Float Pool

Location: Centennial, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Float pool position covering multiple hospitals within a 60-mile radius around Denver city center (Zone 3).
• No home base facility; must be able to float between facilities within the zone.
• Float assignments may be given weekly or just-in-time (1–2 hours before shift).
• Units include Medical-Surgical Telemetry with specialties spanning Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Orthopedics, Trauma, and Emergency Department Observation.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5-6 depending on acuity.
• Shifts are 12 hours (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am).
• Schedules released 4–6 weeks in advance.
• Weekend requirement: 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule.
• Holiday rotation participation may be required.
• Rare call or standby requirements for low census.
• Orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor.
• Dress code: Any scrub color.

Patient Population

• Adults to geriatrics.
• Common diagnoses include cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery post-appendectomy, gynecology, psychiatric/detox, ENT, general medicine, and stable long-term placement patients.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing experience.
• Prior neuro experience preferred but not required.
• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Must be able to titrate Heparin drips.
• Must be flexible and able to float across multiple units and acuity levels, including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Telemetry.
• Must be able to work within a 60-mile radius and secure housing accordingly.
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to assignment start.

Additional Information

• Charge nurses are designated on each unit; typically do not take patient assignments unless necessary.
• Nurse aides are available on the units.
• Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP are present on units.
• Travelers are expected to assist in filling scheduling gaps and be flexible with assignments.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical Telemetry RNs who are comfortable with floating across multiple specialties and facilities within a defined geographic zone.
