Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Specialty: 9CD - NICU RN
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of NICU nursing experience (Level III NICU preferred)
  • Active North Dakota and Compact RN License (willing to obtain)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system highly preferred
  • Ability and willingness to float to PICU and Pediatrics units (skills checklist required)
  • Must be able to perform neonatal assessments and care for IVs, umbilical lines, CPAP, nasal cannula, oral and IV medications, OG and NG feedings, and G-tubes

Job Details

  • Provide nursing care to neonates including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation
  • Assist with procedures such as intubation, spinal taps, PICC line placement, IV starts, and admissions
  • Work with equipment including conventional ventilators (Draeger), high frequency ventilators (jet and oscillator), nitric oxide, cool cap, MedFusion pumps, Smart pumps, Spacelab monitors, Epic charting, MAK for medications, and Accudose
  • Unit has 40 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • 1:1 to 1:2 for critical and intermediate infants
    • 3:1 for infants who are growing and feeding

Schedule

  • 12-hour rotating day/night shifts
  • Work every other weekend

Orientation & Training

  • 2-day orientation with a buddy to learn unit norms and assess patient care capabilities
  • Training on Epic (OneChart) system provided

Additional Information

  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Scrub color: Child-friendly scrubs with role-specific colored pants
  • Cannot accept travelers living within 60 miles of the facility
  • Floating to other units is required (PICU and Pediatrics)

Prior Travel Experience
